The first-ever World Bird Fair took flight in Taichung City, Taiwan, on September 19, 2025. This landmark event brought together birding, ecotourism, and conservation organizations to share their passion and ideas towards a more sustainable future. Over 30 different countries participated in the event, including the Philippines, for this global celebration.

Haring Ibon, Bird Finder Philippines, and Birds in Focus, Inc. proudly represented the Philippines alongside close partners Wild Expeditions Palawan and the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines.

Before the 2025 World Bird Fair, Bird Finder Philippines was invited by Optisan Optics to go birding across the mountains of Taiwan. Representing Bird Finder Philippines and Haring Ibon are Djop Tabaranza, Vinz Pascua, and Alain Pascua.

We meet our many international partners and brand ambassadors like the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines, Birding Indonesia, Sabah Birdwatchers Association from Malaysia, and Langur Eco Travels from Bhutan, all led by Taiwan Bird Guide's Chuck, Kuan-Chieh Hung.

Optisan Optics is the official optical partner of Bird Finder and Haring Ibon. This short trip provided a preview of Optisan Optics' 2026 lineup, featuring their brand-new binoculars and a sleek new Spotting Scope prototype. We were impressed by the brand-new generation of binoculars and spotting scopes, from the new covering to the new magnetic phone adapter.

During the World Bird Fair, we showcased our merchandise and books to the fair's visitors. Our caps, sticker sheets, playing cards, and keychains were a big hit with birders from across the world. Lots of birders flocked to our caps since the weather in Taichung City was scorching at 35 degrees!

Unbeknownst to our local Filipino audience, we launched a special commemorative graphic tee celebrating this historic birding event! This graphic tee, designed by Vinz Pascua, features several Philippine and Taiwan endemic birds representing Haring Ibon and the location of the first World Bird Fair, Taichung City.

As seen with our announcement post, we have two spectacular Pheasant species adorning the front: the Taiwan-endemic Mikado Pheasant and the Philippine-endemic Palawan Peacock-pheasant. For the back design, we showcased several Titmouse species endemic to the Philippines and Taiwan. These include the iconic Yellow Tit and Elegant Tit, alongside the closely related Chestnut-bellied Tit and White-fronted Tit.

This tee was a smash hit at the World Bird Fair, serving as a special limited-edition souvenir for most attendees and featuring not only Taiwan's endemic birds but also Philippine birds.

World Bird Fair Exclusive Keychains
We also released a keychain featuring the Palawan Peacock-pheasant and Mikado Pheasant, as well as a stand-alone Philippine Eagle design, for the World Bird Fair.
On Day 2 of the World Bird Fair, our very own Alain Pascua gave a talk showcasing the avian wonders of the Philippines!

In a short 20-minute talk, Alain Pascua gave a brief introduction to several of the Philippines' most famous birding sites from our Bird Finder tours, alongside several of our birding packages for 2026. Alain Pascua also showcased the annual Puerto Princesa Underground River International Bird Photography Race as the Philippines most anticipated birding event for the international birding community to join.

The final day of the 2025 World Bird Fair celebration at Taichung City Civic Square was a very eventful one, with many pleasant surprises! The Haring Ibon booth was one of the most-visited at the fair, with visitors grabbing our brand-new graphic tees, keychains, and trading cards along the way. Several lucky visitors also had the opportunity to get their copies of Haring Ibon: The Great Philippine Eagle and Birds of Subic Bay signed by their authors, Alain Pascua and Vinz Pascua.

Thank you to the World Bird Fairs Council for giving Haring Ibon this incredible opportunity to meet with birders and partners from all over the world in Taichung City, Taiwan, and to proudly represent the Philippines on a global stage. It has been a fulfilling and uplifting journey for Haring Ibon that we will cherish for future World Bird Fairs to come!
