This September, Haring Ibon - Birds in Focus, Inc. participated in the 2025 Manila International Book Fair, the largest book fair held in the Philippines!
2025 will be the second year that Haring Ibon - Birds in Focus, Inc. will participate in the Manila International Book Fair, following our first online participation in 2020, during which we hosted an online book launch event for Desmond Allen's Birds of the Philippines and the monumental All the Birds of the World. By all means, 2025 is our first physical participation in this landmark event. This year's program includes the book launch of "Passage through Consciousness" by Leonardo M. Manalo, as well as several Meet & Greet sessions with our authors.

Our big highlight event was the book launch of "Passage through Consciousness" by Leonardo M. Manalo. Passage Through Consciousness offers glimpses of encounters with significant personalities, revealing insights and stories that have not been written about before. Through real-life experiences with individuals from various walks of life, idealism was tempered by realism—without losing hold of the vision for a brighter future for the next generations. During the book launch day, over 30 copies were sold, and an additional 40 copies were sold throughout the other days of the 2025 Manila International Book Fair.
Passage through Consciousness will soon be available at the Haring Ibon website.

For our first Meet and Greet session on September 13, we have authors Cel Tungol and Jade Aster Badon over at our booth for the day.

Cel Tungol is one of the co-authors of ALAY: Philippine Native Trees along Forest Trails and a key person at ALAY: Philippine Native Trees at the Victor O. Ramos Arboretum.

Jade Aster Badon, also known as Ja-a, is the author of A Naturalist's Guide to the Butterflies of the Philippines.
This day was an incredibly eventful one, with many guests flocking to our booth to have their copies of ALAY and Butterflies of the Philippines signed by our two authors.

Surprisingly, we also have Dr. Juan Carlos T. Gonzales drop by our little booth to grab several of our books and have them signed by our authors. Dr. JC also wrote the foreword for Nigel Hick's book, Wild Philippines, which is one of our more recent bestsellers in our catalog.
For the final day of the 2025 MIBF, we have authors Maia Tañedo and Vinz Pascua for our final Meet and Greet sessions.

Maia Tañedo is one of the co-authors of A Naturalist's Guide to the Birds of the Philippines, which now has a brand new third edition, soft-launched during the 2025 Manila International Book Fair.

Vinz Pascua is the author of Birds of Subic Bay and is the artist and designer behind many of Haring Ibon's items, including our Birds of the Calamianes Trading Cards, all of our Sticker Sheet Sets, and the incredibly popular Haring Ibon Playing Cards.

Both Maia Tañedo and Vinz Pascua are co-authors in our most successful publication, Endangered Bird Species of the Philippines.

We've held a little "game" leading up to the opening of the 2025 Manila International Book Fair, where we featured the Luzon Hornbill in our announcement posts over at Facebook and Instagram. We'd like to showcase the winner, Leonard Rizada! He got a brand new 3rd Edition copy of A Naturalist's Guide to the Birds of the Philippines. He also grabbed the opportunity to have one of the co-authors, Maia Tañedo, sign the book during the book fair.
The 2025 Manila International Book Fair has been a wild and exhilarating ride for the Haring Ibon - Birds in Focus, Inc. Team. During our 5-day stint, we've sold out on several of our books and, more surprisingly, our merchandise! When we take a broader scope at all the booths at the 2025 Manila International Book Fair, we're proud to be the ones championing Philippine Wildlife through our books and our brand's national and natural advocacy.
We hope to bring in more titles for the coming years and showcase the wonders of Philippine wildlife at many more book fairs to come!
